My intentions for this post was to showcase some of the classic mobster style. Preferably 1915-1950 was a great era just for that. My father born 1950 into a unique life style he soon adapted to. His parents both boaters from Sicily. My grandmother worked hard for dimes, my grandfather chose high jacking semis full of cigarettes/ booze/ anything that could make money. He was considered a hit man/ loan shark. Working for the likes of Lucky Luciano (Salvador Luciano), Al Capone (Alphonse Gabriel Capone). My father remembers bullets on the coffee table. Bugsy Siegel towered over my toddler father with that damn cigar. Any time I have to spend with my father I hear a another story, I learn something new. the last time my father saw his father he was 12. Being escorted into a car while making eye contact with my father he was frozen and all he got was a finger to the lips to be quiet and that was that. Sebastiano Vermiglio wasnt exactly a lovable character. I once read a valentines day card written by my father to his father reading: "Roses are red violets are blue I love mom more than you" . Sebastian had another family residing in Chicago, kids and a wife. My grandmother ( I am her name sake so there for I take her strength when I can) She found out and cut up all of his Sicilian imported silk suits and hoped to never hear from him again. My father was taken under his uncles wing and continued his life as 'Backdoor Ronnie'. I wont say any more for I would have to kill you, hahah I had to.

Another point to this ramble is the new HBO series Boardwalk Empire. It rings too true to my father because its almost a glimpse into my grandfathers life when he sailed into Detroit town for the first time. You get to see a young Al Capone and Lucky Luciano, my grandfather was right next to them. Popping people off and building an empire around them (at least trying). So I'm a little obsessed with this show because it also reminds me that men used to actually dress them selves and take pride in that. What happened dudes? What happened to society?

Last night my roommate and best sang back up for lady Jessica in Danjee Flesh Nation: an amazing blend of tribal psych with heavy stoner metal, on top of a touch of modern beautiful tribal ritual wear that only Levon could create and Jenny could wear. Needless to say I was very much satisfied. The only disappointing aspect of the show was that not very many people were there. Detroit needs to get its shit together and embrace something new. We shouldn't be afraid to go to a show because the music might actually be good. If you ever see this band on the bill please don't miss it, you might actually see something that could blow your mind.

The only picture I took on my birthday was of my breakfast that I made that was really fucking good.

eggs scrambled with almond milk, cheddar cheese, fresh basil, pepper salt. Then some fresh chopped tomatoes and avocado with garlic salt and some lime juice. Toasted some garlic naan and ate it in 2 minutes. Do it!

Since I have a internet feeling that no one really reads this I'm going to type out my meditation travels from my class this evening.

My teacher took us through a calm vibrating trip through the woods. Up ahead was a tower. Very tall old brick but oddly warm on the inside. My angel peter on my left and Wanda my spirit guide on the right. Wanda opens the door to the tower and looking up is the beautiful night sky. I feel light and me my guide and angel fly up. Floating in the night sky I ask my guide to take me to a past life. She grabs my hand then I'm dropped on a galloping horse. I look to my left and my guide is riding along with me. I notice my horse has two animals strapped to the back, my right leg is in pain and we are on a mission. Up ahead is a small tribe of native Americans. While approaching the camp site children yell and laugh and cheer. I'm guided to the center of the small village and someone ties up my horse. I'm guided to the bon-fire where a few men sit and greet me. I'm being thanked and the food I brought is being cooked right away. I express my gratitude for housing me and nursing me. They reassure me I am a pleasant guest and that they wouldn't have found any food without me because they were not familiar with this area of the southwest. The chief touches my chest and tells me I have a good heart. I'm fed a delicious hot stew as the sun goes down. I can feel the sleep wash over me from the long day of riding with my bad leg. I excuse myself and lay peacefully in a warm Tee pee. My spirit comes back and my guide smiles and walks me back to my body.

This was my first trip through a past life. I like the thought of riding through life on a horse. Its probably a big part of my obsession with road tripping through the south. Overall a great session.

My weekends this month are so exciting it makes this summer going by too fast. Its okay though. Emily and Ian had a beautiful wedding last night and i remembered my camera, I wish I could hire someone to show me how to work this damn thing. Today I met pretty bad ass woman. She has been in the shop a few times before but I had a feeling she had more to her than I thought. She brought in some clothing to sell-unfortunately all too new for our taste. But for some reason we were chatting and she asked me "you ever hear of the stooges?" my response was obvious "Fuck yes, MC5 and the stooges top two all time bands". I find out she dated Dave Alexander of the stooges before his death. Lived at the Ann Arbor house for 3 years with all those dudes in the 60's. I got weird and giggly excited. I want to have a formal interview with her, she seemed comfortable with me to tell me about her drug induced 3 years and the pentagram on Dave's bedroom floor. I think i might ask her the next time she comes in. I get weird obsessed when it comes to the ladies behind it all, i love to know how they handled their shit then, you know? She still talks to Scott Asheton (stooges) and Gary Guackenbush (src) all the time. Man someone better hurry and invent a time machine, fuck!

With all the lovely ladies in my life there are moments when life catches up with a few of us at once. During times like this is when you seek a release of some sort ex: drinking, smoking, drinking, anger, smoking. smoking. smoking. But there is nothing else better besides watching the Ru Pal Drag race show during these hard times.

Watching this with 3 ladies and some whiskey will make any day of the week very special. It takes you to a whole different world of problems that you cant even fathom. Reminds you that there are some bigger bitches in this world, and they are fabulous!

Besides drinking the best thing to do while watching this show is trying to keep track of how many times you hear "bitch".

So my trip to California was much needed. Highlights: drank thick vietnemese coffee every morning under a lemon tree, met Tom Pettys costumer, road the cable cars for free after many irish coffees, good mexican food, met Woody Weatherman aka Mikel Ross aka guitarest from corrosion of conformity, saw the little mermaid ballet, had crab chowder on a very windy night, spent way too much money at amoeba on records, was stoned for a week and a half, and to top it off actually relaxed and didnt worry about much of anything. Thanks again for my aunt and uncle letting us trash there spare room and eat their food. After scoping out the possibility's of moving out there i really would like it to happen but ive got some stuff to finish up at home first.

On another note my book of choice on my plane there and back was Patti Smiths new "Just Kids". It was about her very long and loving relationship with her best friend/soul mate Robert Mapplethorpe. I fell deeply in love. Cant deny her smooth way of blending cold hard facts with dreamy poetry. She made me love her more. Gave me a little more ambition to keep my creative side alive. One con from my own personal opinion is that I wanted to know more about her and Fred and how they met, me and my craving for the background story of everyone. Gives me a better perspective I guess.

Made sure to play "Easter" at the store for this past holiday, very appropriate.

I'd like everyone to know my uncle Suo. He's a 62 year old cable car driver who loves beef jerky, colecting everything from everyone, traveling, classical music and eating eating eating. He sailed on a boat from china to San Francisco when he was 4. It was the mid 50s at that time- so he has seen the most memorble moments of San Francisco (besides the 1906 earthquake). He grew up in a tall red and black Victorian 2 blocks from haight and ashbury. He now lives with my aunt in Oakland in a beautiful tall Victorian. He's very good at driving and parking in this tall crazy city. That is my uncle Suo.

I finally am 3/4 done with reading the Catcher and the Rye. So I see ive got some mail this morning, NYLON is here! Every issue gets more and more unbearable! Maybe I'm the only one but this May issue with "Young Hollywood" just looks like an hour long episode of Wild and Crazy Kids (the show was better) So much spandex and neon and the 90's sag ass look. Ive been pretty open minded most of my life when it comes to trying new things to put on your body but come on! 13 year olds in mini skirts and hugh chunky 7 inch heels, jesus people. I'm sure i could go on forever about it but my conclusion is this glossy paper is a waste of money- thank goodness for a free subscription, cant wait till this trash stops clogging the mail box.

The Alex White/Frustrations/Lee Marvin show last night was super good. A rare night of everyone seeming to be in a good mood. I always seem to get a little misty and over enthusiastic when there is a babe front woman who doesn't give a shit singing and playing. Afterward me and Amanda headed to BK and it made the night even better. Totally ruined my good habits of this week but still good. Sunday I spent a better portion of my day at the Detroit Tattoo Convention. Place was flooded with leather daddy's and black leather boots from Payless. Only reason to go was for my birthday and this artist Rob Ryan. Completely in love with his work. A very monumental birthday is coming up so I thought why not get a centaur woman tattooed on my leg? Today I spent too much money on 'Folk Art' Metallic Paint (I'll be sure to show you a sample of it). After me and my sister Janelle got home and I watched her force shoes over the feet of a 1 year old with cankles- I hung out with my pops. Maybe twice a month I convince my father (doesn't take much) to take me and my sister Sarah to Izzys Restaurant. The type of place that makes sandwhichs a foot high! As my father would say in a typical dego accent "It'll feed ya till thursday!". Today they didnt have pastrami-very disappointing. Tonight I will follow the masses and watch the Oscars, cool.

Hello!

My first post will conveniently be about the X! records showcase that's happening this month of Feb. every Thursday (so much for black history month). There is one more show left and its going to feature Terrible Twos, Fontana, with special guest Tentacle Lizardo! Its rare Tentacle plays so I forsee an entertainingly full show. The artwork is done by Timmy Lampinen (Human Eye, Clone Defects, ect). Definitely always admired his insane stream of consciousness when it comes to his forms of art, very cool. The past shows included Frustrations & Johnny Ill Band, Tyvek & The Mahonies, Human Eye & Heros & Villains. All very good packed shows. Very glad that all those beautiful suburban turned interesting kids showed up! Including myself really. Hope to see a good turnout this Thursday.
